Building Mutual Trust and a China-ASEAN Community of Common Destiny**
Dear Distinguished Guests and Participants,
First of all, on behalf of the General Department of Agence Kampuchea Presse (AKP) of the Ministry of Information of the Kingdom of Cambodia, allow me to express my sincere and grateful thanks to the Xinhua News Agency and other sponsors and organizers for inviting AKP’s representative to participate in this forum.
I believe that this forum would provide an excellent opportunity for all participants to exchange views and ideas with speakers and experts with regard to the building of mutual trust and common destiny between ASEAN and China in order to better prepare ourselves for the arrival of the ASEAN Community in 2015, which is only one year ahead and beyond.
As a member State of ASEAN, the Royal Government of Cambodia is now working hard by putting forth a comprehensive reform in order to challenge with other ASEAN member states as well as to prepare itself into the ASEAN Community in 2015.
With Regard to the Building of Mutual Trust and a Common Destiny and Cooperation between ASEAN and China, I have also learned that the Royal Government of Cambodia together with other ASEAN governments have already voiced their welcome and support and will jointly create an upgraded China-ASEAN Free Trade Area (CAFTA) and advance to the building of the Silk Road Economic Belt and the 21^st^ Century Maritime Silk Road as well as the establishment of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank which are initiated by the People’s Republic of China and would contribute to the connectivity between ASEAN-China and other regions as well.
In order to successfully realize the above-said objectives, I think that the two sides must jointly find an appropriate way to build and strengthen the mutual trust and confidence by establishing as much as they can with channels and working teams in addition to the existing mechanisms to closely working together.
As China and ASEAN had overcome a “golden decade in the past and this year marks the beginning of the “diamond decade, the two sides will jointly work to build a community of “common destiny to share peace and prosperity.
I strongly believe that China and ASEAN would work together to cope with risks and challenges and strive to maintain stable economic cooperation and healthy development, which are the common and supreme interests of all the parties.
The two sides should further enhance mutual understanding and deepen political mutual trust and also expand people-to-people and cultural exchanges, so as to contribute to the development of China-ASEAN relations, particularly deepening China-ASEAN strategic partnership.
With regard to maritime disputes, I remain optimistic that all the involved parties will find their way to defuse the ongoing tensions and narrow the differences and resolve the issue by amicably and peaceful means.
And I also hope that China and ASEAN countries have the ability and wisdom to transform the dispute area into an area of peace, friendship and cooperation and will jointly upholding peace and stability in the region as well.
Once again, allow me to express my sincere thanks to the sponsors and organizers for this forum and wish the forum conducting with success.
Thanks for your attention!
