PENOM PENH, May 1 (APD) -- Cambodian government urged CRRC Corporation Limited (CRRC), the world's largest supplier of rail transit equipment, to join hands with a local-conglomerate Royal Group’s subsidiary Royal Railway to develop the railway system in Cambodia.
At the sideline meeting between Prime Minister Hun Sen and Chairman of the Board of CRRC in Biejing during the 2nd Belt and Road Forum, the premier instructed Cambodia’s Minister of Transport and Public Works to lead a negotiation with the company in order to develop the country’s railway system—“[we] want to have Chinese railway company to join hands with Royal Railway of Cambodia of Oknha Kith Meng to develop our railway and make it more efficient, “quoted the Premiere from a press statement after the meeting.
CRRC’s chairman said that his company has developed some 21,000 kilo meters in China and other countries and the railway development business is not profitable one. However, he said, although it is not a profitable business, he shown his willing to cooperate with a local company in Cambodia to develop the railway.
“[We] are happy to have any discussion Minister of Public Works and Transport Mr.Sun Chanthol and Oknha Kith Meng of Royal Railway to jointly develop the railway in Cambodia,” he was quoted.
At the same time, Prime Minister Hun Sen urged both sides to be ready for the discussion very soon because he wanted to see the development of the country’s railway for economic development.
