Nepal Business Forum receives int'l award

KATHMANDU, March 7 (Xinhua) -- Nepal Business Forum (NBF), Nepal's first national platform for public-private dialogue, received an international award for outstanding achievement at the 7th International Symposium on Public-Private Dialogue, held from March 3-6, 2014 in Frankfurt, Germany, according to local media.

     At the symposium, NBF was awarded the Howard Award for Outstanding Achievement in Public Private Dialogue (PPD), the country's English daily Republica reported Thursday. It was selected among 145 participants representing 33 public-private dialogue forums across the world.

     This was the inaugural Howard Award and was presented to the Nepalese delegation by Marita Brommelmeier, director of Economic Development and Employment Division, German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ) on behalf of the Global Community of Practice for PPD.

     The delegation, led by Krishna Gyawali, secretary of Nepal's Ministry of Industry, consisted of five public and private sector representatives from the Ministry of Industry, the Confederation of Nepalese Industries (CNI) and the Eastern Regional Business Forum.

     At the symposium, Industry Secretary Gyanwali also shared Nepal 's experience as a panelist in a plenary session on sustainability of the PPD process in a country like Nepal.
