KATHMANDU, March 25 (Xinhua) -- A meeting of the top leaders from three major political parties in Nepal decided to form a High Level Political Committee (HLPC) in a bid to hold continual discussions and accelerate the constitution drafting process, participating leaders said.
Power holders in the present government, Nepali Congress (NC) and CPN-UML and major opposition party, CPN (Maoist) gathered at Prime Minister's Residence in Baluwatar Tuesday afternoon.
"The need for the Committee was envisioned for managing continual talks between the three parties and to help fast track the constitution drafting process," senior leader of CPN-UML and former Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal told Xinhua.
The three parties during the meeting also decided to recommend the names from their respective parties for the formation of parliamentary committee at the Constituent Assembly by this weekend (Friday).
The meeting also called on the government to come up with the update towards the formation of Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC) and Commission on Enforced Disappearances during the conflict era, said NC Vice Chairman Ram Chandra Poudel.
The parties also agreed to recommend the relevant ministries on tabling a draft bill at the Parliament for the formation of these two commissions.
Poudel also said the meeting discussed to initiate the remaining issues and tasks in regards to conclude the peace process and set up Constitutional Council.The parties have agreed to hold the meeting Wednesday morning to dwell upon other issues.
