KATHMANDU, Nov. 26 (Xinhua) -- As the constituent election fever slowly fades away in Nepal, the time has come for another event that has grabbed international attention of late.
The annual Elephant Festival in Sauraha at the Chitwan National Park, located about 157 kms west from Kathmandu, will be held through Dec. 26-30, according to the Hotel Association of Sauraha, the organizer.
Over the years, the festival has attracted international as well as domestic visitors for its unique events like elephant beauty pageant, elephant football and elephant race, among other events.
Chariot race, bullock cart race, boat race and folk cultural programs are other attraction of the four-day festival.
For the smooth functioning of event, a committee has been formed under leadership of Gyandendra Kumar Bista, who assured that the 10th edition of the festival will be better and memorable than the previous years.
